Life

Born in 1980, she grew up in Ohio.^[1] She graduated from Western Washington University, from Cornell University, and from University of British Columbia.^[2] Jacquet is Professor of Environmental Science and Policy at the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science at the University of Miami.

She read at the New York State Writers Institute.^[3]^[4] She appeared at WIRED2015, in October 2015.^[5]

Unlike guilt, which is individualized, shame has a social dimension. Guilt might make you use a canvas tote bag at the store or recycle the mountain of disposable containers in your kitchen; if properly implemented, shame could cause companies to manufacture less plastic in the first place.
