In 2020, National Green Tribunal (India) has instructed Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to develop rules for the disposal of bidi residues and cigarette butts.[10] In the same year Let's Do It India started a campaign of colleting cigarette butts and bidi residues under the guidelines of Central Pollution Control Board. This movement is supported by the International organizations like UN-Habitat, United Nations Environment Programme and Earth Day Network.[11] The organization collects tons of garbage on world cleanup day each year.[12][13][14]

In 2022, a MoU was signed between Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation and Let's Do It India.

Mission, Vision, Values

At Let’s Do It India (LDII, we firmly believe that collective action and positive partnerships are the key drivers for essential transformation. Achieving a waste-free world requires a united effort from all sectors of society. Every individual, organization, and community has a crucial role to play in this endeavor. With unwavering optimism and faith, we approach each collaborative project with the belief that together, we can create lasting and impactful change. We extend an open invitation to everyone, regardless of their background, experience, or expertise, to join us in this mission. Whether you are a student, professional, activist, or simply someone who cares deeply about the environment, your contributions are invaluable.

MISSION

LDIW is a worldwide organization dedicated to addressing the solid waste challenge by uniting millions of individuals with a positive mindset in coordinated local and global initiatives. Our main goal is to increase awareness about the environmental impact of poorly managed waste on ecosystems, human settlements, and public health. Collaborating with key stakeholders and policymakers, we strive to identify and implement solutions that promote a circular economy and reduce waste. Through our global network, we bring together individuals, communities, businesses, organizations, and governments to combat the mismanagement of waste that contributes to the current triple planetary crisis.

VISION

A clean and healthy waste-free world. Through its international projects and events, LDIW encourages local-level environmental actions that result in a global sustainable impact. The movement seeks to achieve a waste-free world by engaging the 5% of global population that social science recommends as the tipping point for self-sustained behavioural change.

VALUES

The LDIW movement centers around the principles contained in just three core values. The membership and leadership reflect these values in their day-to-day operations.

  • WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE: We take responsibility for our actions and decisions. Our accountability builds trust and ensures that we deliver on our promises to our stakeholders.
  • WE ARE RESPONSIVE: We are agile and adaptable in our approach. Being responsive allows us to address evolving challenges effectively and seize opportunities promptly.
  • WE ARE COLLABORATIVE: Collaboration is at the heart of our work. We understand that meaningful change is achieved through partnerships and collective efforts. We actively seek collaborations to maximize our impact.
  • WE ARE IMPACTFUL: LDII is dedicated to making a positive and lasting impact. We measure our success by the tangible changes we bring to individuals, communities, and society as a whole.

Impact Model

Let’s Do It India's ultimate vision is a waste-free nation. Addressing the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and the waste crisis requires a global transformation that is inherently complex. This transformation will impact a wide range of stakeholders and involves multiple factors deeply embedded in the fabric of our society. World Cleanup Day, the flagship initiative of Let’s Do It India, can only create lasting change if it inspires everyone across the country to step up and take action.

Our Theory of Change explains how we expect World Cleanup Day and other Let’s Do It India activities to bring about a healthy and waste-free nation. World Cleanup Day serves as a catalyst for individuals, organizations, and governments to take action. The event will generate long-term impact only if stakeholders leverage this momentum to create systemic change.

Individuals must adopt sustainable lifestyles, businesses should implement circular and regenerative business models, and governments need to enact supportive legislation for a circular and regenerative economy. Let’s Do It India’s role is to engage, educate, and act as a catalyst for this essential transformation – which is why we aim to engage at least 5% of India's population – the tipping point needed to drive societal change, accelerating the journey towards a sustainable future.

Let’s Do It India is a unique network of passionate leaders and teams across the country. In our role of empowering and educating, we are nurturing the new generation of future leaders in India to spearhead the societal impact.

Since World Cleanup Day began in 2018, many countries have shown impressive participation. Several countries have reached or surpassed the 5% threshold, indicating that broad engagement is achievable. Each year, different nations emerge as leaders in participation, reflecting the universal potential for substantial involvement.

This demonstrates that lasting change is possible in any nation, large or small, as long as enough people are engaged through cross-sector support. Let’s Do It India strives to replicate and surpass these successes within our own borders, inspiring millions to contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future.

LDII Conference 2023

"Let's Do It India" hosted a conference where notable people from around the world discussed relevant subjects.

People from 22 different nations participated in these debates. Everyone expressed their thoughts and ideas.

The Conference was more than simply a conversation; it was about finding ways to improve conditions for everyone, regardless of where they came from.

They all aspired to make the world a better place, regardless of where they came from or what their ideals were. They discussed how they could collaborate to solve difficulties and ensure that everyone had an equal chance at success.

Everyone left the dinner feeling positive. They were confident that they could handle the challenges ahead together. The event was more than simply a meal; it was an opportunity for individuals from all around the world to get together, share ideas, and prepare for a better future.

Leader’s Academy

Twice each year, LDII holds the highly anticipated Leaders Academy, a significant event designed to bring together leaders from various regions. This academy acts as a vibrant platform for exchanging practical insights and innovative ideas on diverse topics such as nationwide cleanup efforts, efficient logistics management, and advanced waste mapping techniques. By participating in this event, leaders have the opportunity to discuss and develop best practices, share success stories, and collaborate on strategies to tackle environmental challenges more effectively.

The Leaders Academy is not just about the transfer of knowledge; it is also a pivotal moment for building networks and fostering relationships among leaders. New and emerging leaders benefit greatly from this environment as they are paired with experienced mentors who provide guidance, support, and inspiration. These mentorship programs are designed to nurture leadership skills, enhance professional development, and ensure that new leaders are well-equipped to drive impactful community projects.

Furthermore, the academy encourages a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Participants are encouraged to bring forward their unique challenges and solutions, creating a collective intelligence that benefits all attendees. The Leaders Academy thus serves as a cornerstone event for LDII, promoting sustainability, leadership excellence, and community engagement across the nation.

LDII Advocacy
