MTV World Stage VMAJ 2010 diadakan pada hari Sabtu, 29 Mei di Yoyogi National Gymnasium di Tokyo, Jepang. Para nominator mengumumkan pada tanggal 31 Maret 2010. Lady Gaga menerima lima nominasi, sementara Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, The Black Eyed Peas, Namie Amuro, Miliyah Kato, dan Juju semua menerima tiga nominasi masing-masing.

Exile menetapkan tonggak baru pada acara tersebut, menjadi kelompok pertama untuk menerima tiga penghargaan selama tiga tahun berturut-turut. Tahun ini, mereka menang dalam kategori untuk Video of the Year, Album of the Year, dan Icon Award Asia.
