Johnny Amadeus Cecotto (Augusta, 9 settembre 1989) è un pilota automobilistico venezuelano.
Possiede anche la cittadinanza tedesca ma corre con licenza venezuelana. È figlio del pilota motociclistico e automobilistico Johnny Cecotto.
Carriera
Inizi
Cecotto ha iniziato la sua carriera motoristica col karting, per poi passare alle vetture a ruote scoperte nel 2005 con la Formula BMW ADAC. Nel 2006 ha partecipato alla F3 tedesca, conquistando una vittoria, e alla Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup.
Nel 2007 passa alla International Formula Master, chiudendo ottavo, con tre podi. Ritorna poi nel campionato tedesco di F3, in cui conquista il terzo posto nella classifica generale, con due vittorie.
Nel 2009 corre nella F3 Euro Series con la HBR Motorsport,[1]. Qualche mese dopo firma per partecipare alla GP2 Series, con la David Price Racing, con cui corre 3 gare[2].
GP2/Formula 2
Con il team Trident Racing partecipa alla prima gara della GP2 Asia Series 2009-2010,[3] per poi essere rimpiazzato da Dani Clos. Con lo stesso team prende parte alla stagione 2010 della GP2 Series, totalizzando 3 punti in campionato. Nella stagione 2011 corre nella GP2 Asia Series con il team Super Nova Racing[4]. Nella stessa stagione corre anche in GP2 Series con la Ocean Racing Technology[5], prima di passare alla Addax[6] nella stagione successiva. In questa stagione, Cecotto ottiene 2 vittorie (le sue prime nella categoria) e il nono posto in classifica generale.
Nella stagione 2013 cambia nuovamente team, passando alla Arden International[7]. La stagione si rivela essere peggiore della precedente, in quanto Cecotto non ottiene vittorie e podi, fermandosi al sedicesimo posto in campionato.
La successiva stagione 2014 è la sua migliore stagione in GP2. Comincia la sua sesta stagione nella categoria tornando a correre per il team Trident[8], e terminerà il campionato al quinto posto in classifica generale, ottenendo 2 vittorie e 5 podi in totale.
Nella stagione 2015 di GP2 disputa alcune gare con Hilmer Motorsport, Carlin Motorsport e Trident Racing, non ottenendo punti.
Nel 2016 partecipa a 4 gare della GP2 Series con la Rapax[9] e a 6 gare della Formula V8 3.5, vincendo la gara 1 dell'Hungaroring.
Nella stagione 2017 partecipa alla sua nona stagione nella categoria, nel frattempo rinominata Formula 2, restando con la Rapax[10]. Dopo aver ottenuto un podio a Monaco, viene però sostituito da Sergio Canamasas dopo la tappa di Baku[11].
