Il 17 marzo 1990 una manifestazione a scopi umanitari intitolata That's What Friends Are For: Arista Records 15th Anniversary Concert fu tenuta al Radio City Music Hall a New York. Le celebrità che presero parte al concerto furono: Air Supply, Lauren Bacall, Burt Bacharach, Eric Carmen, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Clive Davis, Taylor Dayne, Michael Douglas, Expose, Whoopi Goldberg, Melanie Griffith, Hall & Oates, Jennifer Holliday, Whitney Houston, Alan Jackson, Kenny G, Melissa Manchester, Barry Manilow, Milli Vanilli, Jeffrey Osborne, Carly Simon, Patti Smith, Lisa Stansfield, The Four Tops, e Dionne Warwick.
That's What Friends Are For fu il brano di chiusura del concerto, interpretato dalla Warwick e dalla Houston, a cui si unirono nel finale tutti gli altri interpreti. In quell'occasione furono raccolti 2.5 milioni di dollari, consegnati a vari istituti di ricerca sull'AIDS.
