Kuiskualinska kiselina je agonist AMPA receptora i grupe I metabotropskih glutamat receptora.[3][4][5] Ona uzrokuje ekscitotoksičnost i koristi se u neurologiji za selektivno uništavanje neurona mozga i kičmene moždine.[6][7][8]
